Position Description

This temporary full-time, benefited position assists and supports Afghan refugees resettling in northeastern Oklahoma as designated by the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and outlined in the U.S. State Department’s Cooperative Agreement. The goal of the program is to help refugee families become self-sufficient in their new communities by providing basic needs and a core group of services upon their arrival. The Afghan Refugee Case Manager is responsible for all aspects of service delivery to refugee individuals and families. Schedule may fluctuate with some evenings and/or weekends needed.

As a ministerial representative of CCEOK it is expected that both professional and social behavior be aligned with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church. 

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor; opportunities include personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration
  • Completes core services as specified in the Cooperative Agreement which includes home visits, initial intake interviews, resettlement plans, needs assessments and cultural orientation
  • Assists in the enrollment of refugee children in appropriate school and educational programs
  • Conducts all services in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner, according to grant guidelines and/or agency policies and procedures
  • Arranges for and utilizes appropriate interpretation and/or translation services as needed
  • Communicates, as necessary, with third parties, such as employers, school officials and other social services’ staff on behalf of the clients and assists in the transportation of clients to core service appointments. This includes transporting clients utilizing a personal or agency vehicle.
  • Keeps up-to-date case-notes, maintains file documentation and conducts periodic file maintenance in a confidential and accurate manner
  • Prepares, monitors and submits timely reports on the status of client self- sufficiency as outlined in the Cooperative Agreement
  • Actively participates in case meetings, trainings and other department, agency, community and provider meetings
  • Complies with all agency and program policies and processes as well as federal, state, and funding requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • High school diploma; at least 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related social service field is preferred
  • Ability to drive and possess a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
