Reports to: Managing Attorney

Position Description

This part-time position provides interpretation and translation services to clients of Catholic Charities, supporting Immigration Attorneys and Accredited Immigration Specialists.

As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, it is expected that both professional and social behavior be aligned with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church.

Tasks

  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor; opportunities include personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration
  • ​Interpret for Spanish-speaking clients within the Immigration Department of Catholic Charities – both on-site and off-site, including the Tulsa County and Okmulgee jails
  • Willingness to interpret for clients sharing graphic personal experiences, including those involving violence and abuse
  • Translate documents, flyers and signs from English to Spanish and Spanish to English
  • Return phone calls
  • Duties as assigned
  • Comply with policies and procedures that creates a safe and secure environment, aligned with the standards of the Child and Youth Protection Charter

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or prior interpreting experience
  • ​Registered Courtroom Interpreter or Certified Courtroom Interpreter preferred

  • Competence in communicating and interacting with others of diverse cultural, geographic, and economic backgrounds in a professional and compassionate manner, including interacting with individuals experiencing substantial levels of emotional, physical, financial, or other hardships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (Spanish and English)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to use basic Microsoft Office programs and online database software
