Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Position Description

This full-time, benefited position provides strategic input for planning and initiative reporting to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Responsibilities include delivering regular financial reports, collaborating with management and Board committees to maintain robust financial oversight, advising the CEO and Board on key financial matters—including performance, risks, and opportunities—and ensuring a Christ-centered service delivery model executed with professional excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Board Interaction & Governance

  • Serve as the financial liaison to the Board as directed by the CEO, providing analysis and recommendations
  • Support planning and collaborate with Budget, Finance, and Audit Committees to uphold financial oversight
  • Advise management on financial performance, risks, and opportunities

 

New Business Initiatives & Due Diligence

  • Lead financial due diligence for new ventures, evaluating risks and opportunities
  • Negotiate contracts and structure financial aspects to align with strategic goals

 

Finance & Treasury Services

  • Lead budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and long-term planning
  • Manage treasury functions, cash flow, investments, compliance, and financial controls
  • Provide recommendations for resource allocation and cost management

 

Risk Management

  • Develop and execute strategies for financial, operational, and reputational risks
  • Manage insurance coverage and ensure regulatory compliance

 

Contract Management

  • Negotiate contracts and engage legal services as needed
  • Align agreements with organizational goals and financial capacity

 

Facilities Management

  • Oversee budgeting, maintenance, and capital planning for facilities
  • Lead capital projects and act as the representative for construction initiatives

 

Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.

Experience: 10+ years in financial management, with 5+ years in senior leadership; nonprofit experience a plus.

Skills:

  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and treasury management
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to implement financial strategies for sustainability and growth

Work Environment

Primarily office-based with occasional travel to Catholic Charities facilities. Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
