Position Description
This part-time position will build and maintain relationships with food vendors/distributors to ensure the organization has the goods it needs in both quantity and quality. Responsibilities include researching and selecting suppliers based on the needs of the organization, as the needs may vary over time; devising initiatives to drive procurement performance; presenting reports to senior management on performance, trends, and cost-effectiveness; and collaborating with internal departments to identify the organization’s needs and priorities.
Ministerial
- As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, it is expected that both professional and social behavior be aligned with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church
- Pray daily for the needs of the poor; opportunities include personal prayer, daily Mass, and adoration
- Willingness to learn how to articulate Catholic teaching with a commitment to its application in the job function
- Execute duties in a Christ-like manner with love and compassion, following the values and principles of the program, Catholic Charities and Catholic Social Teaching
Leadership
- Research, identify and evaluate strategic food sourcing partners
- Build and foster long-term relationships with existing and potential suppliers
- Prospecting for food sources using various methods: in-person visits, telephone, texting, emails
- Coordinate with logistics companies to ensure timely delivery of product
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the suppliers periodically
- Document, log and report on procurement activities to management
- Ensure compliance with regulations and internal practices of the organization
- Monitoring industry trends and developments
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
Skills & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field of study
- Experience in sales or fundraising for gift-in-kind products
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A self-starter who can work independently and be resourceful, with strong negotiation skills to build new relationships and maintain existing connections
- Good organizational skills and data record management
