Position Description

This full-time, benefited position manages the day-to-day activities in the Car Care Clinic (CCC) and repairs vehicles that are accepted into the program. Vehicles from approved sources will be repaired and put in reliable working order.  Some approved repairs may be outsourced to qualified mechanics that are in an established relationship with Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma (CCEOK). Additionally, this position will develop and execute an automotive training certification program that will allow students to gain skills and increase their income capacity. The program builds relationships within industry and the community and is consistent with CCEOK Core Values. Objectives will include improving students' earning potential, meeting enrollment, retention and graduation targets, and providing functional vehicles that are safe for client and CCEOK fleet use.

Ministerial

  • As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, it is expected that both professional and social behavior be aligned with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church
  • Execute duties in a Christ-like manner with love and compassion following the values and principles of Catholic Charities and of Catholic Social Teaching
  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor through personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration

Student Training

  • Maintain an approved curriculum, delivering instructional content through related materials, supplies, tools and equipment
  • Evaluate students on a recurrent basis to provide timely indications of student’s progress toward competencies and knowledge required for successful completion of program
  • Provide academic, personal and behavioral counseling to students to support their successful completion of program requirements.
  • Effectively manage the classroom (shop) to create optimal learning environment, maintaining an appropriate balance of classroom discipline
  • Maintain up-to-date records of student attendance, mechanical aptitude, academic progress and grades, reporting results and issues to management
  • Utilize LACES for data entry of demographics, attendance, test scores, etc.

Vehicle Service

  • Evaluate, coordinate and manage the repairs of client vehicles in accordance with approved guidelines
  • Utilize volunteer mechanics, program students and third parties to carry out repairs 
  • Assure all vehicles leaving the shop meet standards set by the program and are safe for use as a client’s car (to and from work) or CCEOK fleet use

General Program Operation

  • Coordinate and manage the day-to-day operation of the car care clinic
  • Develop and maintain the program with employers, vendors and others in a manner that will lead to social entrepreneurship and self-funding
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Assure titles, insurance and other related items are in order
  • Assure the security of shop, tools, and parts
  • Develop and maintain community and business contacts to facilitate placement of students
  • Participate in projects/assignments in support of the campus or program, as assigned
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in making decisions regarding the provision of services to internal and external customers and in day-to-day operations of the department
  • Provide advice and consultation to executive management as requested; Investigate and resolve issues, as needed, representing the department in a professional manner to all
  • Comply with CCEOK policy and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • This position requires a minimum of three (3) years experience, within the last five (5) years, as an Automotive Technician or in Automotive Management
  • ASE Certification preferred
