Director of Client Food Distribution - Tulsa

Position Description

This full time, benefited position is responsible for all operations related to the client choice market, the production and lunch kitchens, garden program, and related Tulsa-area food distribution. The Director is responsible for outcomes related to the effort to alleviate food insecurity in Tulsa by providing balanced and nutritious groceries and meals, when appropriate, to qualified clients using various distribution methods including a client choice market, drive-through food delivery, and other methods to be determined to maximize distribution. The programs are open to the public and serve as models for all other food pantries in CCEOK's distribution network. This position also interfaces with senior management, Director of the Warehouse and other pantries in the CCEOK Food Bank network to share best practices and monitor compliance as needed. This includes inventory control and client management systems.

As a ministerial representative of CCEOK it is expected that both professional and social behavior be aligned with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church.

Key Functions 

  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor; opportunities include personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration
  • Manage all operating requirements for success for the distribution and preparation of food in the Tulsa area, including the market, kitchen and garden
  • Assure balanced nutritious food options are ready for distribution
  • Work closely with the CCEOK team and warehouse personnel for the successful daily operations of the market
  • Analyze intake data
  • Manage inventory & comply with all health, safety and company regulations and policies
  • Ensure nutrition & cooking education
  • Provide supervision, coaching, training, and evaluation to the market staff, alternative work/job training program participants and volunteers
  • Manage relationships with community partners, providing wrap-around services in the market lobby
  • Support related fundraising efforts
  • Build strong rapport by collaboration with warehouse operations and volunteer departments.
  • Maintain the required paperwork and reporting needed on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Assist with annual budgets and reports as needed.
  • Participation in staff meetings, project teams, or other employee activities.
  • Attend Market Partner Program events as time permits.
  • Other duties assigned

Education and  Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Food safety and handling certified or ability to be certified
  • Three to five years experience in management and supervision of employees or volunteers preferred
  • One to two years of food market, retail or merchandising experience preferred
  • Forklift certified or ability to be certified

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate with clients of all socio-economic backgrounds in a warm and consistent manner
  • Bilingual in Spanish desired
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.), database systems
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented with initiative/self-starter with ability to work and supervise volunteers with diverse backgrounds
