Director of Finance & Accounting

Position Description

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director of Finance & Accounting is responsible for supporting the CFO in producing accurate financial data in compliance with organization standards, regulatory agencies and following General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

This full-time position maintains a complete, up-to-date systematic record of accounts and financial transactions. The role takes ownership for all the accounting processes for all Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma, including key journal entries, and assures that journal entries and subsequent reports are timely and accurate.

Key Tasks

  • Direct and evaluate all Finance and Accounting employees and volunteers
  • Process all journal entries necessary for monthly & annual closing of books & close the books
  • Produce, analyze, reconcile and disseminate trial balance & monthly financial statements
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations of bank accounts
  • Management of fixed assets for the organization
  • Prepare and submit monthly 403B liability payments
  • Prepare and submit monthly reimbursement of expenses for the programs (government and private)
  • Assure internal controls related to petty cash accounts
  • Assure a successful annual audit and lead all related actions
  • Provide guidance and supervision in accounting to all stakeholders as needed
  • Assist in compensation, including payroll, and benefits administration
  • Review bi-weekly payroll, execute related accounting and reporting
  • Ensure accurate coding and processing of monthly HR benefit invoicing
  • Assist the Chief Financial Officer on special projects as needed
  • Provide budget support
  • Duties as assigned

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Masters and/or CPA preferred)
  • Five years’ experience in an accounting role
  • Solid planning and organizational skills
  • Commitment to timeliness & accuracy
  • Experience with accounting software systems, Financial Edge preferred
  • Proficiency in Windows XP, Microsoft Office
  • Ability to lift 20lbs, bend, stoop, sit and stand for long periods of time
