Position Description
This part-time, non-benefited position handles a wide range of administrative and volunteer management-related tasks in a team environment to support the volunteer staffing needs of our Adult Education program. Daytime hours with some evening and weekend work required for events; excluding holidays.
As a ministerial representative of CCEOK it is expected that both professional and social behavior be aligned with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church.
Key Tasks
- Pray daily for the needs of the poor; opportunities include personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration
- Assists Adult Education leadership team, as needed, in all volunteer-related functions of the organization
- Recruits, trains, manages, and retains volunteers for both the main campus and rural outreach education sites
- Develops networks within communities the Adult Education department serves (current and future sites) to bring new talent and mission-minded individuals to serve in the program
- Collaborates with the main Volunteer office on recruitment and representation at volunteer events
- Works with Adult Education staff to identify potential leadership volunteers and develop their experience
- Intercepts and prioritizes phone calls, emails, messages, and mail from external and internal persons from the volunteer office
- Maintains database, ensuring Adult Education volunteer records hours are current
- Facilitates on-boarding processes for volunteers and initial placement with a department. Ensures every volunteer is scheduled for their first day and facilitates first day process.
- Collaborates with Adult Education program leadership to coordinate and facilitate a variety of volunteer orientations, trainings, and appreciation initiatives and events
- Regularly communicates with volunteers and ensures a high level of appreciation and integration into the overall team
- Comply with policies and procedures that creates a safe and secure environment, aligned with the standards of the Child and Youth Protection Charter
- Other duties as assigned
Key Skills
- Experience in volunteer recruitment/management, human resources, professional recruitment or training preferred
- Bi-lingual, English/Spanish, preferred
- Interpersonal skills with strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, organizational, and presentation skills
- Must be comfortable with public speaking and giving constructive feedback to volunteers
- Detail oriented, superior organization skills, with ability to maintain confidential information and records
- Advanced computer skills, especially MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, PowerPoint
- Experience with Volgistics software a plus
- Ability to lift 20 lbs., bend, stoop, sit and stand for long periods of time
