TULSA, Oklahoma –
Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma is getting ready for the arrival of 800 Afghan refugees in Tulsa.
The non-profit will help roughly 200 families with things like housing, healthcare, and getting kids enrolled in school. They say this is the most refugees they ever helped in one year.
“With the Afghan arrivals since they’re already removed from Afghanistan and U.S. Military bases, that it could all happen at once, and so we’re really preparing for a large group of people in a short period of time,” said Rev. Deacon Kevin Sartorius with Eastern Oklahoma Catholic Charities.
They say they’ll be teaming up with other nonprofits to help the refugees.
