TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The American Red Cross of Oklahoma and Catholic Charities have teamed up to give back to the Tulsa community this Red Cross Month.
Red Cross Month is celebrated every March as a way to recognize those who give back through the American Red Cross. It was started by President Franklin Roosevelt almost 80 years ago and has continued ever since.
Saturday morning at the American Red Cross building in Tulsa, Catholic Charities gave away free food parcels while supplies last.
American Red Cross staff also offered fire safety tips and resources, and there was a sign-up for a free smoke alarm installation.
The Red Cross is also collecting items like bathroom toiletries, socks, underwear, shirts and sweatpants to be donated to veteran clinics in Tulsa.
