Assistant – The Market

Reports to: Manager of The Market 

Position Description 

This full-time position is responsible for restocking the shelves prior to The Market opening and keeping the produce bins filled during normal operations. In addition, this position will gather, process and manage client information and integrate it into the client in-take system. The position will interface with The Market manager, volunteer coordinator and warehouse staff to ensure best practices are maintained and provide a superior level of customer service to the clients in The Market.    

The Market at Catholic Charities is a client choice program that provides a variety of healthy food items at no cost to low-income individuals to help alleviate food insecurity in Eastern Oklahoma. 

Ministerial 

  • As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, it is expected that both professional and social behavior be aligned with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church
  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor; opportunities include personal prayer, daily Mass, and adoration
  • Willingness to learn how to articulate Catholic teaching with a commitment to its application in the job function
  • Execute duties in a Christ-like manner with love and compassion following the values and principles of the program, Catholic Charities and Catholic Social Teaching

 

Key Tasks

  • Stock shelves and maintain inventory levels to ensure no products run out  
  • Arrange products so that they are attractive in The Market  
  • Sort and store products in the market, refrigerator and freezer  
  • Coordinating the disposal of trash and food waste from The Market 
  • Work closely with CCEOK team and warehouse personnel for the successful daily operations of The Market 
  • Assure that balanced nutritious food options are readily available for distribution 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management 

 

Qualifications/Skills  

  • High school diploma or equivalent   
  • Able to lift 40 pounds  
  • Good customer service skills 
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Being bilingual in Spanish is a plus  
  • Ability to work some nights, weekends and early morning hours.
  • PC skills – knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products
