Position Description
This part-time, temporary position reviews assistance applications, schedules and conducts client appointments at Our Daily Bread in Stillwater, assesses client needs, and determines eligibility for financial assistance. The Caseworker provides budgeting support and financial coaching, connects clients with community resources, and makes referrals to partner agencies.
Responsibilities include advocating on behalf of clients with utility companies and other service providers, processing assistance payments, maintaining accurate and confidential records, and documenting services provided. Limited scheduling and administrative duties may be performed remotely.
Ministerial
- As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, maintain professional and personal conduct that aligns with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church
- Pray daily for the needs of the poor through personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration
- Be willing to learn and apply Catholic teaching in this role
- Help foster a shared culture of ministry across program operations and management
Client Interaction/Casework
- Develop trusting relationships with clients and provide advocacy, guidance, and direction to help ensure they have the best available means to improve their circumstances
- Determine the nature and extent of a client’s situation through individual interviews and assessments
- Connect clients with community resources and services appropriate to their identified needs
- Enter and maintain accurate client information in agency tracking spreadsheets
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation in electronic client files
- Maintain current knowledge of available community resources and services to best meet client needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Financial
- Coordinate with utility companies and other services providers to obtain necessary account information, verify balances, arrange payments, and negotiate service continuation or reconnection when appropriate
- Submit check requests through Blackbaud for approved client assistance payments
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all financial assistance provided in Blackbaud and other designated tracking systems
- Consult with Supervisor regarding special circumstances, exceptions, or unusually complex client situations
Qualifications/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred; equivalent education and/or a minimum of three years of relevant experience in casework or social services
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

- Detail-oriented, organized, proactive, and dependable, with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrates an understanding of and respect for the dignity of every person, particularly those experiencing poverty, hardship, or crisis
- Compassionate, approachable, and able to minister effectively with individuals and families from economically, culturally, and socially diverse backgrounds
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional telephone and email communication
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess client needs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and related systems, with the ability to learn agency-specific software such as Blackbaud
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and protecting the privacy and dignity of clients
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with volunteers, employees, clients, community partners, and the broader community
