Truck Driver

Job Type: Ministerial 

Reports to: Manager of the Warehouse 

 

Position Description 

This part-time position will be utilized on an as-needed basis as the needs of the programs arise. They are responsible for various logistical aspects of the transportation and delivery of food/non-food items from various locations according to a planned schedule. They will interface with the manager of Eastern Oklahoma Outreach and warehouse staff to ensure best practices are maintained while providing a superior level of customer service to the clients of Catholic Charities.  May include some long-distance driving.   

 

Ministerial 

  • As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, it is expected that both professional and social behavior be aligned with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church 
  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor; opportunities include personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration 
  • Willingness to learn how to articulate Catholic teaching with a commitment to its application in the job function 
  • Execute duties in a Christ-like manner with love and compassion following the values and principles of the program, Catholic Charities and Catholic Social Teaching 

 

Job Duties 

  • Load a box truck and drive it to various locations according to the scheduled pick-up or drop-off site
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack at distribution site to offload pallets and put them in position for volunteers, if necessary 
  • Record proper weights of products when needed 
  • Train and manage volunteers when needed 
  • Assist site prep and take down as needed 
  • Provide supplies needed to carry out distribution 
  • Haul leftover food or goods to an alternative location or back to the warehouse as needed 
  • Ensure client dignity and Catholic values are upheld 
  • Duties as assigned 

 

Qualifications 

  • Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance in the state of Oklahoma 
  • Experience in driving various trucks, with standard and automatic transmissions
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities 
  • Ability to show up when scheduled and work some weekends, nights and early morning hours 
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Detailed and organized 
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • PC literate, Word, Excel, Outlook and internet usage (preferred) 
  • Ability to regularly lift 50lbs, bend, stoop, sit and stand for long periods of time 
  • Have forklift certification or become certified within 90 days of employment
