Instructor – CNA Training Program

Position Description

This full-time, benefited position is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, training, and mentorship to students enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant training program. This role ensures students are equipped with the knowledge, clinical skills, and professional behaviors necessary to obtain CNA certification and succeed in healthcare settings. In addition to teaching, the CNA Instructor will support ongoing Porta Caeli House (PCH) operations, including assisting with compliance, quality of care, and the supervision of caregivers when needed. The CNA Instructor supports Catholic Charities’ mission of serving those in need by preparing clients for stable, meaningful employment in the healthcare field.

The Workforce Development Program empowers clients to achieve financial independence and thriving households by offering on-site job training, job readiness education, and career guidance that fosters upward economic mobility.

MINISTERIAL

  • As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, both professional and personal conduct must align with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church
  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor through personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration
  • Be willing to learn and apply Catholic teaching in your role
  • Help foster a shared culture of ministry across program operations and management

 

LEADERSHIP

  • Ensure compliance with Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) regulations and program standards
  • Support PCH operations by providing training and oversight for caregivers, ensuring care quality and adherence to policies
  • Contribute to program growth through community outreach, recruitment, and retention strategies

 

STUDENT INSTRUCTION

  • Deliver engaging classroom and clinical instruction in compliance with state-approved CNA curriculum
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progression
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance through testing, skills demonstrations, and feedback
  • Collaborate with Workforce Development staff to provide wraparound support to students (case management, employment readiness, etc.)
  • Create a supportive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment

 

BUDGET MANAGEMENT/FUND SOURCING

  • Ensure responsible use of program supplies and resources
  • Support Workforce Development leadership in identifying program needs and contributing to grant compliance and reporting

 

CLIENT GUEST INTERACTION

  • Encourage and mentor students, recognizing and addressing barriers to success
  • Maintain professional communication with students, staff, clinical site partners, and PCH caregivers

 

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

  • Represent the CNA training program at job fairs, community events, and partner meetings
  • Promote awareness of program benefits to prospective students, employers, and healthcare providers

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the State of Oklahoma
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a long-term care facility (per OSDH requirements)
  • Current or eligible for OSDH-approved CNA Instructor Certification (train-the-trainer)
  • Experience in supervising or overseeing caregivers in residential or long-term care is preferred
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Prior teaching, training, or supervisory experience preferred
