Position Description

This part-time, non-benefited position will manage the process associated with a large volume of grant revenue. This position will coordinate with funders to best tailor each individual grant request. They will identify new funding opportunities and work with a wide variety of Catholic Charities staff to understand the needs and best communicate stories of the clients being served through our 14 programs. Having a good understanding of the financial component of the grants process as well as the budgets and financial documents required from funders is an important part of this process.

As a ministerial representative of CCEOK it is expected that both professional and social behavior be aligned with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor; opportunities include personal prayer, daily mass, and/or adoration
  • Prepares grant proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information from internal program managers, writing drafts, and finalizing a professional, succinct and compelling request for funding
  • Build and engage relationships with key individuals at funding organizations to identify opportunities and clarify directions for grant proposals
  • Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and grant submission
  • Coordinate grant follow-up requirements with funders
  • Coordinate with internal financial team to produce budget and financial documents that are required with each grant proposal
  • Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone
  • Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks.
  • Helps accomplish fundraising goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring and researching new opportunities for funding


  • Preferred experience in grant writing; however will consider comparable and transferable skills acquired in a professional non-profit fundraising setting
  • Excellent written communication and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of budgeting and non-profit financials
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Deadline oriented
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Highest standard of personal and professional integrity.
  • Ability to use discretion while working with confidential and sensitive information
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a time-sensitive, highly participatory and collaborative environment with strong team orientation
  • Understanding of principles and strategies of philanthropy
  • Willingness to learn how to articulate Catholic teaching with a commitment to its application in the job function
