More Afghan Refugees Arrive In Tulsa; Welcomed By Oklahoma Charities

TULSA, Oklahoma - 

Almost three dozen Afghan Refugees spent their first night in Tulsa on Tuesday after arriving at Tulsa International Airport. 

Pastor Eric Costanzo says the effort to welcome lots of people that serve the military and Afghan families has been amazing. Costanzo says It’s been a cooperative effort with Catholic Charities to welcome the new Afghan neighbors that have made wonderful contributions to help us in Afghanistan.

Catholic Charities work to help find homes for all the refugees and supply them with everything they need to get settled. Volunteers also provide meals upon refugees' arrival. Costanzo says a national charity league and various churches in Tulsa also made donations to help the refugees. 

“We’re just really honored to be a part of this process and I think Tulsa has been at its best and we’re seeing so many people just being involved in this process, we hope that will continue in the days and weeks to come we look forward in more ways our Afghan neighbors will become apart of our city and community, said Eric Costanzo, Pastor, South Tulsa Baptist Church

Catholic Charities says by the end of the week they expect well over 500 hundred Afghan families to have arrived in Tulsa.
