Market Associate 

Job Type: Ministerial 

Status: Full time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, Benefited

Reports to: Manager of The Market 

Position Description 

This full-time position is responsible for restocking the shelves prior to The Market opening and keeping the produce bins filled during normal operations. In addition, this position will gather, process and manage client information and integrate it into the client in-take system. The position will interface with The Market manager, volunteer coordinator and warehouse staff to ensure best practices are maintained and provide a superior level of customer service to the clients in The Market.    

The Market at Catholic Charities is a client choice program that provides a variety of healthy food items at no cost to low-income individuals to help alleviate food insecurity in Eastern Oklahoma. 

Ministerial 

  • As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, both professional and personal conduct must align with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church
  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor through personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration
  • Be willing to learn and apply Catholic teaching in your role
  • Help foster a shared culture of ministry across program operations and management
  •  

 

Leadership

  • Interact and assist with the needs of clients as issues arise pertaining to CCEOK services

  • Perform client and volunteer surveys and publish results

  • Update and maintain operational procedures for the Market

  • Assure that balanced nutritious food options are readily available for distribution

  • Oversee market operations when Market Manager is unavailable

  • Provide guidance/training for new volunteers on the client in-take system

  • Assist Market Manager in policy and safety training

  • Monitor the Market appearance and conditions to ensure a clean/safe environment

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management

 

Community Outreach 

  • Represent program at events in the local community

  • Provide education and outreach to the local community

  • Support related fundraising and volunteer events

 

Qualifications/Education  

  • High school diploma required with some college experience a plus

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Self-starter that can work independently and ability to handle fast-paced environment   

  • Good organizational skills and data record management 

  • Training in mental health and situational de-escalation is a plus 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft work products 

  • Bilingual a plus
