Therapist Candidate

Reports to: Counseling Program Manager   

Position Description 

As a Therapist I at Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma, you will provide evidence-based, ethical and compassionate counseling to individuals and families working in a variety of settings, including our main campus office and local Catholic schools. Within the school-based setting, evidence-based treatment will be provided to children aged 4-17 years and their families who are experiencing significant behavioral and emotional issues.  

The Counseling program follows a  Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework of care for school-based services that includes universal prevention, targeted intervention, and intensive support. In office, you will join a supportive and collaborative team of licensed professionals and graduate interns dedicated to providing exceptional clinical mental health care to individuals and families that leads to improved health and well-being.

This role requires flexibility and a commitment to serving diverse populations, often traveling to different locations to provide services.

Ministerial 

  • As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, both professional and personal conduct must align with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church

  • Pray daily for the needs of the poor through personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration

  • Be willing to learn and apply Catholic teaching in your role

  • Help foster a shared culture of ministry across program operations and management

 

Leadership

  • Cultivate and maintain collaborative working relationships with campus programs, school leadership, educators and external providers to offer holistic care and be a mental health resource

  • Provide system-wide intervention at school-sites within Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and contribute to individualized education programs (IEPs) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) for academic and social success

  • Promote mental health awareness and education, behavior management, and trauma-informed classroom strategies

  • Bridge gaps by connecting individuals, families and schools with local mental health resources and external care providers

  • Utilizing multi-disciplinary teams, staff work collaboratively to provide a coordinated effort to enhance and improve client outcomes and quality of care

 

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct intakes, diagnosis, treatment plans, treatment plan updates for clients on case load

  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions in working with individuals and families

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate client care and provide appropriate referrals to external resources and providers 

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation standards of progress notes and treatment plans in accordance with payor requirements and program policies

  • Direct immediate crisis intervention, safety protocols, and de-escalation strategies for individuals facing acute emotional distress

  • Maintain clinical supervision for one hour per week

  • Participate in weekly staffing with counseling program team

 

School-Based Counseling 

  • Evaluate students to identify emotional, behavioral, or developmental needs, form diagnostic impressions, and determine appropriate care plans

  • Provide individual, family, or small groups to address anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, behavioral challenges, and social-emotional skills development at the school or main campus office

  • Respond to immediate mental health emergencies, conduct risk and suicide assessments, and build safety plans

  • Collaborate with educators and school administrators, offering awareness and education on mental health along with behavioral strategies to support children within the learning environment

 

Qualifications/Education 

  • A Master’s degree or better in clinical mental health counseling or related field from an accredited graduate program

  • Must be board approved licensure candidate as an LCSW, LPC or LMFT in the State of Oklahoma

  • Documented proof of board approved supervisory agreement

  • Must possess a valid Driver License and satisfactory driving record and be able to travel to locations other than primary office

  • Knowledge and experience in individual and family therapy, and group facilitation

  • Knowledge and experience in conducting mental health assessments, diagnosis and treatment planning

  • Must demonstrate a clinical family systems orientation and ability to work with diverse populations with multiplicity of problems

  • Excellent relationship management, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
