TULSA, Okla. — Former Delaware Governor and White House Operation Allies Welcome Coordinator, Jack Markell, spoke during a press conference Friday afternoon in Tulsa.
Dozens of families from Afghanistan have been arriving in the Tulsa area over the last month, fleeing from the crisis in Afghanistan.
On Saturday, those families were welcomed to an FC Tulsa soccer match and treated to dinner prior to the game, all provided through Food on the Move and FC Tulsa.
South Tulsa Baptist — in partnership with Catholic Charities, which is heading up the overall resettlement effort — has been in charge of welcoming Afghan refugees at Tulsa Airport since arrivals began in September.
